Artists I Like: Two Door Cinema Club, Passion Pit, Mother Mother, Little Joy
I think this array of music would be good to animate to because the sounds themselves have a lot of movement to them. The sounds are poppy, fun, and lighthearted which are themes that I think really resemble my own art as a whole. I love vibrant, popping colours and fun ideas to draw from. Though I have a much wider taste in music I think the indie/pop-rock/alternative (there's probably a better word for this) genre better represents me as a whole.
In terms of inspiration, I really admire Alex Grigg and Charles Huettner who are both known for their Photoshop animation and modern cartoon style. I found their pieces and hard work to be very inspiring. Animating in PS is quite a different experience than animating in Flash. If you want to animate in PS it's probably better suited for small animated gifs. Any bigger project PS would definitely not be ideal and would certainly be a lot harder. But the plus side is that PS allows you to be much more versatile with artistic style.
